Lifeline Prelude is a clear wood primer and sealer.
One coat of Prelude clear wood primer fills the pores of the wood and provides a surface that enables you to obtain a more uniform finish color over the entire home.
Prelude clear wood primer also contains UV Boost for added UV protection. Prelude is a primer and should never be used as a final finish.

After learning the hard way what NOT to do on your new milled log home, my husband and I were forced into totally stripping our cabin down to bare wood. I decided to use the complete, integrated Perma Chink line, starting with Prelude. I wanted to ensure adherence of my Lifeline 7 stain and love how smooth it made the logs for the stain! It's a step you could skip, yet I definitely would not after my Sashco debacle.

We wanted to put a clear finish sealant on the interior of our brand new log cabin to help protect the walls, ceiling, and beams. We weren't looking for a stain --just a clear coating. I spoke with several reps at the PA Store location and they suggested cleaning with Log Wash, then applying 1 coat of Prelude for UV protection, and then 2 coats of Lifeline Acrylic (Gloss) over that. They also provided us with information about interior finishing before we started. Well...It looks beautiful and we cannot thank Perma-Chink enough for their guidance!

We just want to say thanks Perma-Chink for recommending the Prelude primer pre-stain on our new log home. You were right, that made a huge difference! No Blotchiness!

We purchased an older log cabin last year. It had very little stain left on it and was mostly gray on the surfaces. After speaking with MN store salespeople, we cleaned the surfaces with Wood Renew and then applied just one coat of Prelude clear coat. I couldn't tell much about the Prelude coat when we put it on, but after our Ultra-7 Bronze stain was applied over it the stain looked even and the color seemed very vibrant. I am satisfied with the overall look! Thanks

Just like to review below, we chose to use Prelude as a base coat for our Sure Shine that we selected for our older log home......came our perfect!! Can't wait to see it all decorated for the holidays!!

A coat of Prelude Sealer made my uneven pine logs look balanced and consistent. It also made the Ultra 7 much easier to apply. I’m very happy with these products.

Brad from Perma-Chink told me on a chat that the Prelude was a perfect first coat for creating a clear, natural appearing finish for the interior of my log home. It acted like a clear wood stain sealer, but because it has the UV protection already added to it, we don't have to worry about the "picture frame" effect that just a clear finish would have given me over time. We then applied 2 coats of Lifeline Acrylic satin to our walls and really love the look!!
